Christianity is not a Religion
The Christian's Personal Identity
CHRISTIANITY
IS NOT A RELIGION
By: Don Matzat
Christianity is not a religion doling out spiritual wares
and adjusting them from time to meet user demands! Nor is the
Bible a fundamentalist's textbook of psychology offering a potpourri
of spiritual and psychological solutions to the needs of hurting
people. When confronted with the needs of people, we do not push
buttons and pop out appropriate Bible verses. We offer Jesus!
Christianity is and always has been a relationship with the person
of Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Since the essence of Christianity is found in the person and
work of Jesus Christ, any claim that the Christian faith falls
short in providing answers for the needs of hurting people is
in fact a criticism of the sufficiency of Jesus Christ.
The Christian life is neither motivated by religious rules
nor able to be analyzed via psychological principles. The Christian
life is a result of Christ Jesus dwelling within the life of
a believer.

THE
CHRISTIAN'S PERSONAL IDENTITY
By: Don Matzat
I believe that in Christ Jesus my sins have been fully and
freely forgiven, and I am a new creation. I have died with Christ
to my old identity in Adam. I have been raised with Christ to
a new life. I am seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
God has given to me the full righteousness of Jesus. I am joined
with angels, archangels, and all the saints in heaven, God is
my Father, and if He is for me, who can be against me? Because
of who I am in Christ, I am more than a conqueror. In fact, I
can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me. Christ
Jesus is my life! Everything in my life here on this earth is
working out for good according to the purposes of God. Christ
Jesus Himself dwells within me. I have been called according
to the purposes of God. These things I believe and confess, because
God, my Father in heaven, says they are true. Amen!
